Things I can't wait to do when I go home to Texas...

1. See my family and friends.
2. Wear my boots.
3. Buy a new pair of boots.
4. Eat at Taco Cabana with my Mom and drink a corona on the patio.
5. Go dancing in Ft. Worth
6. Sit on the deck in the evening while grilling out.
7. Sit on the bank of the Guadalupe for a little while.
8. Go shopping at Cavender's.
9. Drive all day long.
10. Frolic in the bluebonnets.

I will think of more. For the next 8 months my theme song will be: When the Bluebonnets Bloom by Robert Earl Keen Jr.

When The Bluebonnets Bloom

On a cold winter night, neath the silvery moon
I wished on a star, had a dream about you

Dry the tears in your eyes, I'll be coming home soon
Neath the wide open skies, where the blue bonnets bloom

Like a blanket spreading out as far as I can see
When those flowers line the road
You can look for me
I'll be hanging round the back roads like an old familiar tune
I'll be there when the bluebonnets bloom

Some people get goin to the top of the world
I'd rather be home with my bluebonnet girl
Cuz she's needing me, like a bride needs a groom
I'll be making her mine, when the bluebonnets bloom

Like a blanket spreading out as far as I can see
When those flowers line the road
You can look for me
I'll be hanging round the back roads like an old familiar tune
I'll be there when the bluebonnets
I'll be comin home you can bet on it
I'll be there when the bluebonnets bloom!

  1. Ha ha! You are sooo homesick it's funny. Reminds me of me when I had lows on the boat but god knows why I ever had lows on the boat; I will NEVER have lows on the boat, EVER again.
Still, I understand why you want to go home and well, you have your friends, your family, but what's that about driving all day long; what with the price of oil being what it is. I tell ya, driving and flying will become the privilege of the very few quite soon. And this is what makes me breath a sigh of relief to have a wind-powered vessel.
    ;)
'ere, did you hear about that Japanese geezer, Horie, who just crossed the Atlantic/Pacific, forgot which on, in a wave-powered boat; not wind, but wave. He's based at the marina where I had my first baby boat. I loved my baby boat.

  3. Oh and... i may be a bit homesick but what i am really reminding myself of is to leave this island loving every minute of it and not regretting a thing. when i left key west it was run down, hurricane demolished, and sad. I just want to make sure I leave while I have a leg to stand on instead of being hurricane broke and riding on a greyhound bus.
